Halloween is here!

It's here - it's finally here! Halloween has arrived. Caitlin has been so excited about this. Perhaps bordering on obsession - let me explain:

After riding her bike around the neighborhood a few times, Caitlin made a map of who had decorated for Halloween and who had not. These decorated houses would obviously be prime candy targets. And afer seeing the candy hawl - I'm thinking the work paid off.

Caitlin decided that she would wear her costume from last year again because Tony was deployed last year and didn't get to see her. How sweet it that? I will admit - this was a bit hard for me to swallow - we have never repeated a Halloween costume before! In the world of perfect mommies - is this allowed?!? I think that in the world of perfectly SMART mommies it must be allowed!

The girls were all dressed (a witch, a funny witch and then the most precious flapper!) and ready and just waiting for Dads to get home to take them out. Tony made it home after the worst commute immaginable. It seems that everyone is trying to get home to trick-or-treat with their kids!

On base - we trick or treat for 2 hours and the base police patrol the neighborhoods on foot and on bike. We call them the pumpkin patrol! It is trick-or-treating at its finest - very safe, all fun and lots of families. Tony and the girls wrapped up our neighborhood and then drove to the General Officers' housing - and I don't know how they convinced him to do this...but they then drove to the Haunted House!? The Civil Engineering Squadron takes some of the old abandoned homes every year and create a Haunted House as a squadron fundraiser. Tony said the girls made it to the second floor and then wanted to bail out! And he let them. Caitlin was fine - she said she just looked all those scary people right in the eye and knew it wasn't real.

After trick-or-treating, Tony and Caity came home for our traditional breakfast for dinner on Halloween and called it a night. It was a good Halloween - because we had great friends to share it with, but mostly because Tony was home this year with us.
