Super Saturday...

The Yellowjackets scored again! They had their second win this morning (even though we aren't keeping score!) We weren't too sure that Caitlin would be real eager to play. Last night at practice she took a hard ball to the face and we weren't convinced the enthusiasm was there. But Coach was brilliant and put Caitlin in on the attack for the first quarter - it worked...she got back into the game. But - I will say - she thoroughly enjoyed playing defense the other 3 quarters.

After that - we decided to check out the National Book Festival. This is an amazing event put on by the Library of Congress and hosted by the First Lady. There were tents to cover every topic and authors everywhere for readings and book signings. The highlights for Caitlin were seeing the Magic School Bus, meeting Arthur, Anne of Green Gables and Digit from Cyberchase and Judith Viorst (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day). The other thing that she truly enjoyed was the Pavillion of States. Upon entry, you received a map of the US and then visited a booth for each state. At the booths, you checked out the writers and books from that state and then received a stamp on your map. With the spirit of a true letterboxer - we didn't leave until we had each and every stamp! I enjoyed seeing authors like Kathy Reichs (she has brilliant titles like Deja Dead and Death Du Jour) and Alexander McCall Smith (The No. One Ladies Detective Agency). Another beautiful day on the National Mall.
